Valerie Carney (Fellowship)

By day, I work for the US Army Topographic Engineering Center (TEC) as a branch chief for the Research Division.. I also have a couple part time jobs. I am a fitness instructor, teaching step aerobic classes at Lee District Park and I am a Longaberger Home Consultant. (Feel free to see me for any basket, pottery, or wrought iron needs!)

I am the proud mama of a furry, little pound seven year old puppy named Bailey. She is a Corgi-mix, and I adopted her at one of the DC shelters almost three years ago. She’s a little gem and fit into my home perfectly from the first night I had her. As far as upbringing goes, I am a native of Northern Virginia. I grew up in West Springfield (where my parents still live) and went to West 5 Springfield High School. I have two brothers, one sister, and three nieces. All of us were baptized in the Episcopal Church, so I am a cradle Episcopalian. I was confirmed as a young teenager, and then was reaffirmed in 1996 at Christ Church in Old Town Alexandria, which is where I was a member before transferring to Olivet a few years ago. This is my second year serving on the Vestry, on which I am responsible for the Fellowship Commission. I also serve on the alter guild.
